Ready For Winter?

On Basalt Mountain, there is fresh snow today. It is 76 degrees on the greenhouse and the climate battery is on, keeping it cool, storing heat for the cold nights ahead.

Still harvesting fresh carrots, onions, leeks, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cilantro, cabbage, lettuce, violas, and parsley from outside. It is the second harvest on many cabbage plants which grew 4 or more new mini heads where the first cabbage was harvested.

The TCI Lane Ranch Greenhouse is a certified organic greenhouse providing fresh vegetables and herbs to our CSA members and our surrounding community.

November 13th and the garden is under snow. It has been cloudy and cold for a few days and even in the greenhouse the plants are complaining about the short hours of daylight and the cloudy weather, slowing their growth almost to a stop for the moment.
